WARDOGS is not available on PS5. As of September 2026 it exists only as a Windows PC release on Steam Early Access, and the same is true on Xbox.

A PlayStation version is planned. BULKHEAD has confirmed console versions are coming but has been explicit that it does not know when, and no release window has been given.

What the developer actually said

In a Q&A video published in March 2026, BULKHEAD addressed the console question directly. The studio said it absolutely wants to bring the game to Xbox and PlayStation, told console players they had not been forgotten, and confirmed console is the plan — while stating plainly that it does not know when.

That is about as clear as an uncommitted answer gets. Console versions are intended rather than merely under consideration, but nothing about timing has been promised.

Notably, that answer covered Xbox and PlayStation only. Nintendo Switch was not mentioned.

What the official pages show

The Steam store page lists Windows as the only platform, with no console entries. BULKHEAD’s own project page for the game likewise does not list console platforms.

Neither page carries a “coming to console” banner or a pre-order option for PS5. There is currently nothing to reserve.

If a PlayStation release were imminent, a PlayStation Store listing would be the first visible sign, and none exists.

The 1.0 timing question

Reporting during the beta period indicated that PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions would arrive with the 1.0 release rather than during Early Access. That is consistent with the developer’s comments but is not a dated commitment.

BULKHEAD has said it expects Early Access to run roughly 12 to 24 months. Applying that to a console-at-1.0 assumption produces a rough late 2027 to 2028 range.

That range is inference, not announcement. Treat any specific console date you encounter as speculation until BULKHEAD publishes one.

The 2027/2028 figures circulating online are derived from the Early Access length estimate. They are not an official console release window.

Why the PC-first approach

WARDOGS is an Early Access product built around iterating on player feedback, and shipping on one platform keeps that loop tight. Every patch reaches every player at once.

The technical scope also argues for it: 100 players across a 256 km² map with vehicles, building and full destruction is demanding, and console certification adds a release step to every update.

None of this is an official explanation from the studio, but it is the standard reasoning behind a PC-first Early Access launch.

What PS5 players can do now

Realistically, wait. There is no console beta to sign up for, no pre-order, and no way to play the game on PlayStation hardware.

If you have a PC that meets the requirements, that is the only route into the game today. The minimum specification targets 1080p on low settings at 60fps with upscaling enabled.

Console announcements would appear on the Steam Community Hub and BULKHEAD’s official channels first, as the studio’s Q&A series is where the console commitment was made in the first place.

What about crossplay and progress transfer?

Neither has been announced. With only one platform live there is no crossplay to speak of, and BULKHEAD has published no policy for what happens when console versions arrive.

Cross-progression is equally unaddressed. Do not assume a Steam purchase, Supporter cosmetics, in-game cash or levels will carry to a future PlayStation version.

Both questions are worth revisiting when a console release is actually announced, because that is when a policy would be published.

Controller support on PC

This is a separate question from a console release, and it does have an answer. In August 2026 BULKHEAD confirmed partial controller support at Early Access launch.

Aim assist was described as present only to a very small degree, and the studio stated that mouse and keyboard remains the best way to experience the game on PC.

So a PS5 controller can be used on the PC version to some extent, but the game is not designed around pad input.

Reading the developer statement carefully

It is worth separating what was committed from what was left open, because the two get merged in most reporting.

Committed: console versions are the plan, PlayStation and Xbox are both named, and the studio explicitly told console players they had not been forgotten. That is a stronger statement than the usual non-answer.

Left open: everything about timing. The studio said plainly that it does not know when, which means no window exists to be missed or delayed.

What has to happen first

The game is in Early Access, which BULKHEAD expects to last roughly 12 to 24 months depending on feedback. Systems and balance are still moving during that period.

Shipping to console mid-Early-Access would mean putting every patch through certification on two additional platforms while the game is still changing shape quickly.

That is the practical reason reporting has pointed at 1.0 as the likely console moment, but it remains inference rather than a stated plan.

Console questions answered

The short answers for anyone who arrived here from a search on PlayStation availability.

  • Is WARDOGS on PS5?No. It is Windows PC on Steam only.
  • Can I pre-order the PS5 version? No. There is no PlayStation Store listing to pre-order.
  • Was there a console beta? No. Both closed tests were PC-only.
  • Is it coming to Xbox?Yes, planned — with the same absence of a date as PlayStation.
  • What about Nintendo Switch? Not mentioned in the developer statement, which covered Xbox and PlayStation only.
  • Will PC progress transfer?Unannounced. Do not assume it will.

What a console announcement would look like

Knowing the signals helps you filter rumour from news, because a genuine console release produces visible artefacts before launch day.

The first would be a PlayStation Store listing, which is how console releases become concrete regardless of what has been said in interviews. None exists.

Official statements have come through BULKHEAD's Q&A video series and the Steam Community Hub, which is where the existing console commitment was made. Anything not traceable to those is speculation.
