The minimum specification for WARDOGS is Windows 10 64-bit, an Intel Core i5-8600 or AMD Ryzen 5 3500, 16GB of RAM and a GTX 1660 or Radeon RX 590, with 50GB of storage and DirectX 12.

The recommended specification is Windows 11 64-bit, an i7-12700K or Ryzen 7 5700X, the same 16GB of RAM, and an RTX 3070 or RX 6700 XT. Note that 16GB is the requirement at both tiers.

The official specification

These figures come from the Steam store page, which is where every accurate table originates. Both tiers require the same amount of RAM and the same 50GB of free space.

What each tier actually targets

The specifications come with stated performance goals, which is more useful than the hardware list alone. The minimum tier targets 1080p on low settings at 60fps with upscaling enabled.

The recommended tier targets 1440p on medium settings at 70fps or better natively, or 4K medium at 60fps with upscaling.

Read those carefully: the minimum target assumes upscaling is switched on. A GTX 1660 is not expected to hit 60fps at native 1080p.

Upscaling does a lot of the work

DLSS, FSR and XeSS are all part of how these targets are reached, particularly at the lower tier. If your card supports any of them, enabling one is the single largest performance lever available.

On the Quality preset the image cost is usually modest and the frame gain is substantial. Dropping to Balanced buys more frames if you need them.

This is why a card at or slightly below the minimum can still produce a playable experience — the requirement was written with upscaling assumed.

Where the real load comes from

The specification looks moderate for a 2026 shooter, but the demanding scenario is specific: 100 players across three teams, with vehicles, player-built fortifications and full destruction all active in one contested zone.

Benchmarking in an empty area will mislead you badly. A machine that looks comfortable on approach can fall apart at a crowded objective.

If you are near the minimum, test your settings at a busy Control Zone rather than in transit, and tune for stable frame times rather than peak framerate.

Storage and anti-cheat

You need 50GB free at both tiers. Steam also needs headroom for updates, so leaving only exactly 50GB free will cause problems during patches.

The game uses Easy Anti-Cheat. This is worth knowing because it interacts with system configuration in ways that can prevent launch, and it is a common thread in crash reports.

In particular, several players found that enabling Secure Boot in BIOS resolved launch failures, which is consistent with Easy Anti-Cheat requirements.

Steam Deck, Linux and macOS

None of them are officially supported. The Steam platform list contains Windows only, and BULKHEAD has not published a compatibility statement for Linux or the Steam Deck.

You cannot infer Linux support from a Windows requirements table, particularly for a title using kernel-level anti-cheat where compatibility depends on the developer explicitly enabling it.

During the beta period the Steam discussions carried a noticeable volume of Linux compatibility complaints, which is consistent with the absence of official support.

There is no macOS version. Until BULKHEAD or Valve publishes a compatibility rating, treat Linux and Steam Deck as unsupported.

Before you buy

Check your GPU against both tiers rather than just the minimum, because the gap between them is large — a GTX 1660 and an RTX 3070 are very different cards.

Confirm you have 16GB of RAM. It is the requirement at both tiers, so 8GB systems are below minimum regardless of how good the graphics card is.

Make sure your GPU drivers and Windows updates are current before first launch. Outdated drivers are the most common cause of first-run problems.

How to read the CPU and GPU pairings

The gap between the two tiers is unusually wide, which makes the middle ground ambiguous. A GTX 1660 and an RTX 3070 are separated by several generations and roughly a tier of performance class.

If your hardware sits between them, the honest expectation is somewhere between the two stated targets — better than 1080p low with upscaling, short of 1440p medium at 70fps native.

The CPU side matters more than usual here. A hundred players plus vehicles, building and destruction generates substantial simulation load, so a card that clears the recommended tier will not rescue a processor below the minimum.

RAM is the quiet requirement

Both tiers list 16GB, and that identical figure is easy to skim past. It means 8GB systems fall below minimum regardless of how capable the graphics card is.

It also means there is no documented benefit stated for going beyond 16GB, since the recommended tier does not ask for more.

If you are upgrading to meet the specification, the RAM check is the cheapest one to resolve and the one most likely to block you outright.

Requirements questions answered

Quick answers to the checks people usually want before buying.

  • Will a GTX 1660 run it?Yes, at the minimum target of 1080p low, 60fps with upscaling enabled.
  • Is 8GB of RAM enough? No. 16GB is the requirement at both tiers.
  • How much space do I need?50GB, plus headroom for Steam updates.
  • Does it run on Steam Deck or Linux? Not officially supported. Windows is the only listed platform.
  • Is there a macOS version?No.
  • What anti-cheat does it use?Easy Anti-Cheat, which can require Secure Boot to be enabled.

Upgrade priorities if you fall short

If you are below specification in more than one place, the order you fix things in matters because the cheapest blocker is often the hardest stop.

RAM comes first. At 16GB across both tiers it is a hard requirement rather than a performance setting, and it is usually the least expensive component to bring up to standard.

Storage is next at 50GB, plus headroom for updates. Only after those does the GPU question become the interesting one, and there upscaling does enough work that a card near the minimum can still deliver a playable experience.
